In a major advancement in military technology, India has successfully developed SEBEX 2, a high-performance explosive. This milestone is a significant step towards self-reliance in defense and enhances India’s global standing in advanced explosives technology.

SEBEX 2 has a TNT equivalence of 2.01, making it twice as powerful as TNT and among the strongest non-nuclear explosives worldwide. Developed under the “Make in India” initiative, this material offers greater destructive power without added weight, revolutionizing the potential of bombs, artillery shells, and warheads.

This innovation opens significant export opportunities, as countries globally seek to boost the lethality of their defense systems. India is reportedly developing an even more powerful variant, further cementing its position in advanced explosives technology.

Additionally, the Indian Navy has certified two other explosive formulations by Economic Explosives Limited: SITBEX 1, a thermobaric explosive, and SIMEX 4, an insensitive munition.

This breakthrough underscores India’s growing self-sufficiency in defense manufacturing and positions the country as a potential leader in advanced explosives technology.
